The dean of a nursing school or department is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the program. This includes tasks such as evaluating faculty members, evaluating and improving academic programs and making sure the academic standards of the school are met, advises Pasco-Hernando State College. Since nursing schools also require students to gain clinical experience, the dean must ensure that the clinical programs meet the requirements of the state’s board of nursing and coordinate student clinical assignments.
